I’m sure you’ve all read my tweets and status updates. You feel my anger. Well, I figured I’d give my friends and followers a break and consolidate things in this blog post.

Monday I got a new phone. It’s the Motorola i1, a smart phone that runs the Android OS. It’s an upgrade from the Sanyo Incognito I previously used.

Prior to receiving the i1 in the mail (exclusively available on Boost at Best Buy), I contacted Boost Mobile customer support to see if I would be able to keep my old number. Some guy named Andy called me and said I’ll be able to keep both my old number and the money on my account. He then asked if I was ready to activate the new phone. Since it hasn’t shipped yet, I told him I’m waiting on it and we ended the call.

A week later I got the phone and proceeded to call up to activate it. Their automated system told me that my phone number is already activated and I should hang up and call again to talk to a real person. So I did. Guess what. No real person. After going though all the correct menus, I ended up at robot voice after robot.

So I lied to the system.

I called up again and waited though many menus until I got to Charge Dispute and Stolen Account/Phone. Only then would they redirect me to a real person.

I couldn’t understand that real person, nor could she understand me.  So I hung up and went though all that again.

This time we understood each other!

We went about activating the phone and everything seemed to be fine. He said it might take a couple of hours for everything to work flawlessly.

It’s been about three hours now and I’ve already added all contacts to the phone and tweaked the settings to my liking. I started texting people to inform them I have a new phone…and to get used to this blasted touch-typing.

Never got a reply. Not one.

Either everyone is in church (ON A MONDAY), dead, ignoring me, dead AND ignoring me, or my phone isn’t working. To help figure things out, I asked my friend Alyssa to send me a text message. She did and I never got it. Waited a little while extra just in case. Nothing.

So I called back and they told me to wait another 24 hours. I waited like a good little boy. Guess what?

Still can’t send texts.

Called up Boost and they told me to wait yet another 24 hours. Like I have a choice in the matter.

Still nothing.

Called up again and after much dispute on the phone, it turns out they didn’t activate my number. They activated it then and told me to wait 24 hours for the change to fully take effect.

Waited.

Waited.

Waited.

Yay! It’s almost 24 hours! I’m safe to do as I please now!

I asked my friend Tori on Facebook if she’d text me. She did and I didn’t get it. I think she texted me twice after that before I finally got one. I was excited and didn’t think about why I didn’t get the others. I was just happy to see it work. I tried to reply and it worked. We had an eleven text convo. Go on and guess why that convo ended on an odd number. GUESS! No, I didn’t make an ass out of myself that caused her to not respond. My texts stopped getting sent.

Looked at the service bars and it was a red ‘no service’ icon.

I walked outside and still no service. Stood really still on a fucking chair and nothing.  Then *pop* goes the service and I have full bars. Tried again and it didn’t send.

Had other people call and text. Still, nothing.

Later that day Alyssa sent me a picture and it downloaded perfectly. Tried called and texting, nothing.

I waited….and still nothing.

Called Boost again. This time the guy said a tower was down and would be fixed by tomorrow afternoon.

Waiting…

Called back up, explained what the last guy said…and the woman told me it’s a bigger problem than they thought and I’m going to have to wait 48 hours. 48 fucking hours? Damn, towers must be down left and right!

I waited and called back today. It turns out there were no towers down! Yes, that’s right. The woman checked their map and said that no towers are currently down and they haven’t been down at all.

I’m pissed and started to get a mouth on me. Told them I’m fucking tired of this bullshit and all that jazz. They patched me though to a technician. I explained to him in detail what’s wrong. He said everything should be working fine and doesn’t know what else to do. He then put me on the phone with another technician that told me to call back tomorrow.

Now I’m waiting until tomorrow. FUN SHIT.

For the record, I’ve been with Boost for over a year now and have never had a problem with them. I’ve always had full service outside, and at least two bars of service inside (depending on the weather). NEVER had a problem sending a text message. This isn’t a simple “I must be down in a valley without service. yuck. yuck.” issue.

If this shit doesn’t get sorted out, I’m out a LOT of money.

I spent $300 for the new phone. If it’s inoperable, I’m out all that money because Best Buy will not take back or exchange an opened and activated product. Besides that, I have $100 on my Boost Account/Number. If I get a new phone/number, I lose that $100 because apparently they can’t switch phone numbers between phones more than once. Think it’s over? Oh, no. I also have to buy a new phone. I’d go with the same model as my old phone since it never gave me problems…so that’d set me back $130.

A new $300 phone costed me $530 (plus tax) because Boost Mobile don’t know what the hell they are doing.

I’ll keep this blog updated…
