Dear Me is the story of Samantha (Sarah Thompson), an awkward behind-the-times plant caretaker. Naturally, she hates her job and wants something more in life. Her dream job is working as a copywriter for the ad agency she waters the plants at, but her social anxiety keeps here from moving up in the world.

Her extremely hot cousin, Pipsy (Felicia Day), gets tired Samantha’s shyness and introduces her to the internet, where she starts a blog to write, vent, and let her inner-self out. Following that, Pipsy lands her an interview for the job she already wanted.

The movie is filled with completely unbelievable moments and dialog. For instance, the boss openly farts repeatedly and says “I had some cauliflower earlier.” After he pops a few, he then puts his foot up on the desk, takes his sock off, and starts clipping his toenails. Once his employees leave the room, he shits himself and shoves a napkin down his pants before the screen changes.

The movie is filled with similar moments. In most cases, quirkiness adds personality to the movie. In this case, it ruins it.

Dear Me can best be described as a made-for-Youtube amateur film by someone completely oblivious to the internet. It’s like watching the blogger’s version of  Super Mario Bros., only it’s not so bad it’s enjoyable.

I can’t even recommend watching this movie for Felicia Day. While it’s nice to see her in roles outside of Buffy and The Guild, all her onscreen time can be found in the official trailer. That’s just sad.
